Richmondshire District Scouts are delighted to announce that Lindsay Sykes, District Lead Volunteer for Richmondshire, has been named a finalist in the Celebrating Forces Families Awards 2026.
The Celebrating Forces Families Awards recognise individuals who go above and beyond to support children, young people and families connected to the Armed Forces community. Being shortlisted as a finalist highlights Lindsay’s outstanding commitment, dedication and positive impact within Scouting and the wider community.
Reacting to the news, Lindsay said she was “amazed to be nominated”, adding: “I do what I do for the young people, but it is really nice to be recognised. I’m incredibly proud of everyone involved in Richmondshire Scouts and the opportunities we’re able to offer.”
As District Lead Volunteer, Lindsay plays a key role in supporting volunteers, developing youth provision, and ensuring young people across Richmondshire have access to safe, fun and inclusive Scouting experiences. Her work has been particularly valued by families with connections to the Armed Forces, helping provide stability, community and opportunities for young people to thrive.
The Celebrating Forces Families Awards 2026 ceremony will take place in April at the prestigious De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London, bringing together finalists and guests from across the country to celebrate their achievements.
Everyone at Richmondshire District Scouts congratulates Lindsay on this well-deserved recognition and wishes her the very best for the awards ceremony.
